Our Services – Astronomy Field Night/
~1 hour prior to the scheduled start time to set up the telescopes for
observing, along with a laptop/ data projector for the indoor presentation.
At the scheduled start time, we commence the evening with a 30min/ 40min
presentation indoors. The subject is usually about what the students are
learning in class with regards to the Earth & Space Sciences outline of the
School Curriculum and Standards Authority. They are designed to reinforce and
add what the students have learned in class.
our presentations are used to "kick-off" the subject to generate
interest in the students.
Once that is complete, we head out to the telescopes where we conduct a 5min to
10min laser guided tour of the night sky, highlighting constellations, planets
(if available) and satellites (if flying over).
The students, along with their parents and siblings, are then welcomed to
observe through the telescopes, each of which is pointed at a different target.
Our Astronomer then walks amongst the guests explaining to them what they are
observing through the telescope and answering any questions they may have.
If we start at 7:00pm, we'd expect to finish about 9:00pm/ 9:30pm.
Our standard charge for an Astronomy Field Night is $450 per Astronomy Night
(Perth Metro Area, with no limit to student numbers).
